This is an older retouching project that I completed back in 2019. When this client approached me with their request for an image that would showcase their product - a blue interlocking foam mat - being used in a real-life setting, I wanted to make sure I delivered an image that would meet their expectations.

 

To achieve this, I spent time researching the right kind of setting that would suit their product. I ultimately chose to place the mat in a kitchen scene, as it's a common area where people would use the product for activities such as exercising or standing for extended periods of time. I then purchased a stock image to use from Shutterstock and got to work.

Once I had chosen the scene, I worked on warping the mat to fit seamlessly onto the kitchen floor. I then focused on color-matching the backsplash and other kitchen objects to ensure the scene had a cohesive look. After that, I spent time matching the shading on the mat to reflect the lighting pouring in from the window, creating a more natural effect that would make it appear as though the mat was being hit by natural light.

Overall, I was pleased with the final image and felt it effectively showcased the client's product in a way that would appeal to potential customers.
